BELLE NUIT O NUIT D'AMOUR!
Enjoy a beautiful night of romantic, effervescent music celebrating Valentine's Day and the lovely partnership of trombone and piano. Detroit Symphony Orchestra bass trombonist Randall Hawes and partner, pianist Kathryn Goodson, both from Michigan, will be joined by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra principal trombonist, Jay Evans, for classical and jazzy pieces by Strauss, Faure, Offenbach, Gershwin, Gottschalk, Rogers and Hart and more.
There will be an opportunity to meet the artists and purchase signed CDs afterwards.
At our usual location: Unitarian Universalist Church, 4300 Hampton Heights Drive, Birmingham, Alabama.
The event is at 7:30pm.
Ticket Price: $5 Student $7 General Admission
Randy Hawes, Bass Trombonist of the Detroit Symphony (currently on strike), will be performing and recording with the Alabama Symphony during the week of February 7-14. Randy has just released his second solo CD, 'Barn Burner', available through his website, http://www.bigtrombone.com.
Randy's very accomplished Pianist Collaborator is Kathryn Goodson (Univ. of Michigan professor, Kathryngoodson.com).This duo is really fantastic, and rarely leave the state of Michigan. Ironic that it happens to be possible on the heals of the extremely dire work stoppage at the DSO.

Really, we are done
It is a little bit sad, and a little bit happy. Those of you who have been to Artburst shows know that they were nearly always wonderful events. But I can't keep it up by myself, and I can't find anyone who wants to work with me. And I am out of money. Etc. and so on anon. ...
I think I will move the Aesthetics discussion over to http://www.timjday.com
May take a while. I will need to reread some of Dufrenne (or maybe all of it).
